Amaravati: Principal Secretary, Mines and Geology Mukesh Kumar Meena on Thursday said the department is performing well by increasing its revenue and underlined the need to increase it further by exploring huge mineral wealth in the State. Speaking at the 6th Collectors' Conference, he expressed happiness that in this financial year (2025-26) 15.74 per cent growth has been recorded in the GVA of the mining sector. Last year it was Rs. 29,344 crore and now it has gone up to Rs.33,956 crore. For this year by the Department of Mines (Major, Minor Minerals) Rs3,320 crore of revenue was collected. It was Rs2,654 crores accounting for 92 per cent). The growth was 27 percent compared to last year.

Meena said that he reviewed the pending files district-wise revenue growth and issuance of NOCs. Guntur (61 per cent), YSR Kadapa (64 per cent), Annamaiya (69 per cent), Chittoor (69 per cent), Nandyala (73 per cent), Palnadu (74 per cent) districts, which achieved less than 80 percent income, recommended to focus more on mining income. The auction of new mining blocks and the Free Sand Policy implemented by the State Government were elaborated.
